A four-day intensive programme for harpists preparing for professional orchestra auditions, taught by Sandrine Chatron, Anneleen Schuitemaker and guests

The yearly audition training for harpists will be given by Sandrine Chatron, solo harpist with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, and principal subject teacher at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and Anneleen Schuitemaker, harpist with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and teacher at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam..

This intensive course takes the form of an orchestral repertoire coaching programme, focusing on audition preparation. participants will take part in mock auditions, and a final public audition judged by a professional jury. The winner of the final audition may be invited to play one programme with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra in the following season.

The main purpose of the training is to provide the opportunity to experience a real audition situation at first hand, and all that that entails - the sense of competition, managing stage fright, and developing the level of focus and concentration required under pressure. These  aspects, along with other topics, will be approached directly, enabling the participants to master their skills in preparation for an audition. The work will be done on an individual and on a group basis.

The training is open to students of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (CvA), students from other conservatoires, and young professionals. A maximum of 9 participants can join the training.
The training takes place at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Harps from various makers will be available. The participants can use them for individual practice, outside the training schedule.
