The master Musical Leadership has given me the space and tools to design a music project for children living in a refugee center. Connected to my project, I have been doing research on creative music making in community music projects. The research focused on the interaction between individual and group ownership in creative music making activities. The social process of making music in groups interests me, and my research has given me many new insights on this topic.

The programme gives a lot of freedom to choose subjects that suit your own interest, both in- and outside of the school. I took different lessons to develop my musicianship and was able to do a course on ‘Global Musicianship’ at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki that I could add to my master’s programme.

The knowledge, experiences and network I gained from this master are of much value for my career as a music educator.
