Martijn Hooning has taught music theory since 1986, starting at the Hilversum Conservatory just after finishing his studies in Cologne (Germany), and later on at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague as well.

Since 1994 he has taught music theory at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. He teaches a wide range of subjects consisting of harmony, analysis, ear-training and solfeggio, chamber music, new music, arranging and composing.
