Naomi Shaham

Naomi Shaham (1997) studied double bass with Olivier Thiery at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Previously, she studied with Nir Comforty, a member of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music in Tel Aviv. She won first prizes at the String Competition and Contemporary Music Competition of the Buchman-Mehta School of Music and the Viennese Bass Competition of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. She also won second prize at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music Chamber Music Competition.

Naomi played with the Verbier Festival Orchestra and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival Orchestra and participated in the Practicum Program of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2018, she was appointed principal double bass with the West Eastern Divan Orchestra, and in 2019 she joined the Budapest Festival Orchestra. In 2021 she was appointed solo double bass with the Gewandhaus Orchestra of Leipzig.

In addition to her orchestral activities, Naomi regularly performs as a chamber musician in series of the Tel Aviv Museum and thr Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin.
