First runner-up was Trempera!, from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. In Rhythmic Colour (also CvA) won the Incentive Prize; this band will perform at the Amsterdam Jazz Festival in June. The award for best Monk arrangement was also won by Trempera! Trumpetist Adam O'Farrill of the Manhattan School of Music New York won the award for Best Soloist.

2013 winner: Maarten Hogenhuis Trio

Maarten Hogenhuis Trio, formed by CvA students Maarten Hogenhuis, alto saxophone; Joan Terol Amigó, drums, and Thomas Rolff, double bass. Maarten Hogenhuis also won the prize for Best Soloist, participation in the CvA Summer Jazz Workshop June 2013. Runner-up was Juilliard Jazz Artist Diploma Ensemble from Juilliard School of Music New York, they won € 1250,-. They also won the prize for Best Arrangement of an Ellington Song, € 1.000,-.

2012 winner: North by North East

North by North East, formed by CvA students Toms Rudzinskis, alto sax, Matiss Cudars, guitar, Joel Illerhag, double bass, Kaspars Kurdeko, drums. First runner up was MSM Jazz Quartet from the Manhattan School of Music, New York.

Drummer Jake Goldbas (MSM Jazz Quartet New York) won the ‘Best American Musician’ prize: participation in the Summer Jazz Workshop at the CvA, July CvA 2012.

Pianist Liya Grigorian (Soso Lakatos Quartet (CvA) won the ‘Best Amsterdam Musician’ prize: participation in the Hudson Jazz Workshop in New York, August 2012.

The ‘Best Composition’ prize of € 500,- was awarded to Sandor Lakatos (Soso Lakatos Quartet, CvA).

2011 winner: Daniel Mester Quartet

Daniel Mester Quartet won the Amsterdam Band Final. Caspar van Wijk of the Van Wijk / Derudder Quartet was awarded with 'Best Composition'. Drummer Tony Vitacollona from the same band, was 'Best Musician'.French guitarist Wilfried Wilde was awarded 'Best Soloist'.
