Ben Fitzpatrick appointed first tenor saxophone with WDR Big Band

Alumnus Ben Fitzpatrick has been appointed first tenor saxophone with the WDR Big Band in Germany. This is a remarkable achievement, considering his age; usually the band selects musicians who have been making a career for some time from the global pool of candidates. Ben graduated  from the master’s degree programme at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam only last year.

De WDR Big Band is one Europe’s leading big bands, performing all over the world. With an international line-up, the band covers the whole spectrum of jazz and jazz-related music, from traditional jazz to avant-garde.
