The final of the 14th edition of the Keep an Eye International Jazz Award, held on April 18th at the BIMHUIS in Amsterdam, was a resounding celebration of exceptional jazz talent from across Europe and the United States. The prestigious competition, with the theme of interpreting works by the renowned American jazz pianist and composer Carla Bley, brought together the finest musicians from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, The School of Jazz & Contemporary Music at the New School in New York, Boyer College of Music & Dance in Philadelphia, University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, and Musikene in San Sebastián.
The evening's performances were a testament to the participants' dedication and artistry, as they showcased their unique interpretations of Carla Bley's compositions. The jury, comprising esteemed figures in the jazz world, including Mijke Loeven, Fay Claassen, Will Vinson, Joost Patocka, Frank Bolder, and Joachim Junghanss (chairman), had the challenging task of selecting the winners from the remarkable pool of talent.
