Prize for Bas van Yperen at International Ferenc Fricsay Conducting Competition

Alumnus Bas van Yperen won second and thus highest prize at the first International Ferenc Fricsay Conducting Competition in Szeged, Hungary (a first prize was not awarded). The jury included Vasily Petrenko, Thomas Sanderling, Hermann Bäumer, Constantine Orbelian, Ewa Strusinska and Gyüdi Sándor.

As a result Bas has been invited to conduct several orchestras, including the Leipziger Symphonieorchester, the Hungarian National Symphony Orchestra Szeged, Craiova “Oltenia” philharmonic and the orchestra of Gerhart Hauptmann-Theater-Görlitz-Zittau.

Bas van Yperen studied composition and orchestral conducting at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, obtaining his bachelor diploma in both studies in 2022.
