First prize and audience prize for Rick van Veldhuizen

On April 3rd, Rick van Veldhuizen won first prize and the audience prize for his composition (Un)Mensch at the International Composers Competiton Harelbeke (Belgium).

(Un)Mensch was performed by the Royal Wind Band ‘Vooruit’, conducted by Erik Desimpelaere, who studies orchestral conducting at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. The jury included Luc van Hove, Jan van de Roost, Kenneth Hesketh, Wim Henderickx en Lucas Vis.
Rick studies composition in the bachelor’s degree programme; his final exam will take place later this year.
