Advanced Rhythm
Precision, Depth, and Innovation
Over the past century, one of the most transformative developments in music has been the vast expansion of rhythmic possibilities. Advanced Rhythm builds on this evolution, offering a solid foundation rooted in precision, understanding, and endurance. Using the South Indian method of rhythm verbalization, students engage in practical exercises that explore subdivisions, groupings, accents, and phrasing in depth.
For over 30 years, world-class students have contributed to the rich body of knowledge that Advanced Rhythm at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (CvA) continues to develop. Musicians entering the professional world often find themselves:
- Preparing for auditions where rhythmic skills are a decisive factor
- Shaping their artistic identity as performers, improvisers, or composers
- Exploring new ways of understanding and applying rhythm
- Conducting academic research, writing theses, or pursuing PhDs
- Refining their teaching skills across diverse musical disciplines
Thanks to decades of experience guiding diverse artistic journeys and collecting an extensive repertoire, we offer tailored, personal coaching that focuses on:
- Practical, effective rhythmic tools for professional use
- Techniques that go beyond standard coursework
