Arieh Chrem (1998) is a Peruvian-Spanish composer and improviser born in Lima, Peru, and currently based in Amsterdam. He studied at the National Conservatory of Music in Lima. He obtained a degree in composition at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona with José Río-Pareja and Christophe Havel. Now, he is enrolled in the Master’s program of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, studying with Maya Verlaak.
Arieh started writing music at an early age and has written many works for solo instruments, chamber music, and ensemble (with and without electronics). In Lima, he also collaborated with several theater companies. In Amsterdam, he joined the interdisciplinary Creative Performance Lab (CPL). His works have been performed around Europe and Latin America. He has collaborated with renowned musicians and conductors such as Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Sol Gabetta, Camerata Bern, Duo Ebano, and Ernest Martinez Izquierdo. In addition, he regularly participates in improvisation concerts as both a pianist and a performer of electronics with other players in the Amsterdam improvised music scene.
