René Brijker is a teacher of educational subjects and a supervisor of internships at both the jazz and pop departments. Additionally, he teaches guitar methodology at the pop department, and band coaching and music management at the jazz department, (bachelor and master degree programme).

After graduating from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam as a jazz guitarist, René played in various jazz bands en theatre productions. Indaddition to jazz, he is active in the fields of funk, soul, Latin, world music and electronic music. Currently he plays with his own bands Vreemd, Funky Vibe and Soulkick.
