Monique Bakker

Monique Bakker, stage name Em Baker, sings soul, funk, jazz and rhythm & blues mixed with hip-hop influences. Monique studied at the Hilversum Conservatory and was nominated for the Pall Mall Jazz Award in 1988. She won the audience award in the process. Monique was part of jazz dance formation Mendoza Dance Parti with a release of the album "Speedy Chicken" an performed with soul/hip-hop formation U-gene and Oh Jay at Lowlands, Noorderslag, the Grote Prijs van Nederland and the North Sea Jazz Festival, among others. She released a vinyl EP with them and  performed live with this formation on TV music programmes such as "Twee meter sessies" and "Paradiso live" with the Metropole Orchestra. She toured Europe and Japan with Candy Dulfers Funky Stuff.

Monique released her solo album "ABC of Romance" in 2007 under the name Moon Baker i.c.w. producer Nicolay. She was a guest singer with New Cool Collective Big Band, Parliament Funkadelic and Graham Central Station, among others. With her current band Baker & Sons, she is now working on songs of her own.
