Jolien Grunberg

Jolien Grunberg studied at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where she formed the hardrock trio Furistic together with two fellow students. She won several awards with this trio. The audience got to know her as a passionate and sometimes even ruthless singer with enormous vocal chords, but when Jolene casts off her rock-coat and accompanies herself on an acoustic guitar, she shows her tender side.

Jolien’s unique voice and interpretation was noticed by radio producer Co de Kloet, who invited her to participate in a Tribute To Jeff Buckley with the American producer/guitarist Gary Lucas and the Metropole Orchestra in Paradiso, Amsterdam. The gig was so successful that Jolien was then asked to participate in a musical tribute to Captain Beefheart with the Metropole Orchestra, together with the American singer Nona Hendryx (Labelle).

Recently she released her debut CD Jolene, with seven original songs, which marks the beginning of a new phase in her career.
