Melissa Bremmer graduated from the Music in Education programme at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, with honours, and the Educational Studies programme at the University of Amsterdam, also with honours. She teaches educational subjects at the Music in Education Department at the CvA and the Master’s degree Programme in Arts Education and holds a research position at the Arts Education research group at the Amsterdam School of the Arts. In 2015 she obtained a PhD at the University of Exeter. In her thesis 'What the body knows about teaching music: The specialist pre-school music teacher’s pedagogical content knowing regarding teaching and learning rhythm skills viewed from an embodied cognition perspective' she researches in an innovative manner the role a teacher’s body plays when teaching
