Ruud Ouwehand

Ruud Ouwehand (Amsterdam, 1958), graduated from the Hilversum Conservatory in 1985. Since then he has been a teacher of double bass, bass guitar, music theory, combo coaching and methodology at the conservatories in Enschede (ArtEZ) and Amsterdam. He played with Ferdinand Povel, Theo Loevendie, Soesja Citroen, Chet Baker, Archie Shepp, Branford Marsalis, Nedly Elstak, Greetje Kauffeld, Rivertown Jazzband and many others. From 1994 to 2003 he was a member of the ‘Armando Kwartet’; their CD ‘the Violinist’ received an Edison Award). He performed at numerous festivals at home and abroad, such as the North Sea Jazz Festival, Jazz at the Bouwmeester, Hoffestival and the Kiel Jazz-Tage and gave concerts in Moscow, Berlin, Lisbon, Paris, Amsterdam, Antwerp and Indonesia. Since 1990 he organises  concerts at Jazzpodium de Tor, Enschede, together with Peter Nieuwerf in the series ‘Ruud Ouwehand Presents…’, and since 2003 he is main programmer of Jazzpodium de Tor.
