Johan Plomp

Johan Plomp studied double bass and composition/arranging at the Hilversum Conservatory. As a bass player and composer, he made many recordings with artists like Wim Overgaauw, Buddies In Soul (Cees Slinger), Loet van der Lee and Fleurine. He conducted and arranged for ensembles such as the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw, the Amsterdam Saxophone Quartet, Tineke Postma and Amsterdam Sinfonietta and the Metropole Orchestra. With Miguel Martinez, he is the founder of What’s The Tonic – the Quartet. Additionally, he is the conductor of the Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra, and the Johan Plomp Small Big Band.
