Nicolas Isabelle

Born in Québec (Canada), Nicolas Isabelle enjoys a career as a trumpeter, specialising in historical performance practice, performing on period instruments, or copy of period instruments.

In 2001 he decided to continue his trumpet studies in Europe where he first studied at the conservatory of Dijon (France) with Thierry Caens. In 2005 he moved to Amsterdam, where he decided to pursue the study and practice of his instrument, focusing on ancient music. Nicolas completed a Bachelor in baroque trumpet at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Friedemann Immer, then a master in natural trumpet at the Scola Cantorum Basiliensis (Switzerland) with Jean-François Madeuf.

In the past years, Nicolas has performed in many European countries, with various ensembles such as: La Petite Bande (Belgium), Anima Eterna Brugge (Belgium),La Scintilla (Switzerland), Divino Sospiro (Portugal), Concerto Köln (Germany), Le Cercle de l’Harmonie (France), Concerto Amsterdam (The Netherlands), Les Musiciens du Louvre (France), La Chapelle Rhénane (France), Cappriccio Basel (Switzerland).
