Vera Beths

Vera Beths is one of the most renowned Dutch violin soloists of the post-war generation. She performed as a soloist with many famous orchestras. She has a keen interest in contemporary music and inspired composers such as Peter Schat, Louis Andriessen, Geert van Keulen and Philip Glass to write works for her. In addition to classical and contemporary music, she is also active in the field of historical performance practice. Together with her husband, the cellist Anner Bijlsma, and with violist Jürgen Kussmaul she founded the ensemble Archibudelli, one of the leading early music ensembles in the 1980s and 1990s. She has been a teacher of violin as a principal subject since 2008.
Vera Beths plays a 1727 Stradivarius.
