Selma Harkink

Dutch soprano Selma Harkink is a versatile singer. Soon after her studies in Utrecht and Amsterdam she made her debut in Germany, in the Theatre of Dortmund. This led to many appearances in opera houses including Theater Bonn, Theater Gelsenkirchen, the National Opera and De Nederlandse Reisopera. She has worked with conductors such as Ed Spanjaard, Jan Stulen, Mark Shanahan, Dirk Kaftan, Arthur Fagan, and many others. Additionally, she regularly performs Lieder repertoire together with pianists Jan-Paul Grijpink and David Bollen. Oratorio also forms an important part of her professional practice.

Early in her career Selma discovered her love of teaching. She has been a teacher of voice as a principal subject at the conservatory of Utrecht since 2016, and since 2022 at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
