Rommert Groenhof

Rommert Groenhof (1991) studied bass trombone with Ben van Dijk, Jörgen van Rijen, Pierre Volders and Remko de Jager at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, graduating in 2014. 
From 2014 to 2020 he was a member of the Marine Band of the Royal Navy, and from 2020 to 2023 he played with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. He has held the position of bass trombone/contrabass trombone with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra since 2022. 

Rommert Groenhof regularly performs as a soloist at various international venues. He is winner of the prestigious Donald Yaxley Bass Trombone Competition at the International Trombone Festival 2013 (Columbus, Georgia). At the same festival, he won the Emory Remington Award for trombone ensembles with the CvA trombone class. With the Thein Brothers Trombone Quartet he was winner of the ITA Quartet Competition at the International Trombone Festival 2014 (Rochester, New York).
