Rebecca Fransen

Rebecca Fransen (Hengelo, 1992) obtained her bachelor’s diploma at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where she studied with Peter Leerdam and Olivier Thiery. With the support of a ‘Jong Talent Cultuurfondsbeurs’, granted by the Dutch Cultuurfonds, she continued her studies with Rick Stotijn at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf, obtaining her master’s degree cum laude. Additionally, she studied jazz double bass at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam for three years.

Already during her studies Rebecca obtained the post of solo double bassist with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra Musica Vitae, conducted by Malin Broman. She performed with the Young Netherlands Wind Ensemble and the Het Gelders Orkest Academy, and toured within and outside Europe with the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO).

Since 2017 Rebecca has been a member of Herman van Veen’s Ladies Band. Additionally, she plays with Phion, the orchestra of Gelderland and Overijssel, and serves as a substitute with professional orchestras and ensembles at home and abroad.
