Marijn Korff de Gidts
Marijn Korff de Gidts obtained his master’s degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and continued his studies in New York, West Africa and India. In addition to his work as a classical percussionist, he is active in the fields of contemporary music, non-Western music, improvised music and electronic music. He collaborated with various actors, directors and visual artists in musical theatre productions of, for example, the Toneelschuur, MC Kassett, Oorkaan and SOIL.
Marijn Korff de Gidts played with many ensembles, including the Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Radio Chamber Orchestra and Slagwerk Den Haag. Furthermore, he performs regularly with his own groups Twitching Eye Trio and SOIL, for which he is also active as a composer and director. Moreover, he worked on multimedia music productions with composers Aspasia Nasopoulou and Arthur Wagenaar and on dance performances by choreographers Alida Dors and Gaia Gonelli. The last couple of years Marijn specialized further in non-Western music with teachers such as Zohar Freso, Niti Ranjan Biswas, Maguette Gueye and Moussé Dramé.
Marijn has been a teacher at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam since 2013.
