Marc Danel

Marc Danel (1969) studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne. He founded the famous Quatuor Danel, which is especially renowned for their interpretations of Shostakovich’s string quartets. Additionally, the members play an important role in the field of contemporary music and collaborate regularly wich composers such as Helmut Lachenmann, Pascal Dusapin and Patrick de Clerck. Since 2010, Marc Danel has been a teacher at the Netherlands String Quartet Academy, where he succeeded Stefan Metz as artistic leader in 2011.
