Felix Lashmar (Germany, 1993) studied cello and double bass with, among others, Josephine Knight, Duncan Mctier, Graham Mitchell, and Dominic Seldis at the Royal Academy of Music, with a scholarship. He continued his studies with Olivier Thiery and Rick Stotijn in the master’s degree programme at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and in the 2016-2017 season he participated in the RCO orchestra Academy. He fully explored the solo repertoire for double bass.
His appointment as principal bass with the European Union Youth Orchestra led to the beginning of his professional career. He worked with the English National Opera, the Philharmonia, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. In the 2017-2018 season he was a member of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra. As of August 2018 he is a member of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
