Coosje Wijzenbeek

Coosje Wijzenbeek studied violin with Davina van Wely at the Consevatorium van Amsterdam. From a young age she developed a keen interest in violin pedagogy. After working for a number of years as a professional musician, during which she played in various ensembles and in the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, she decided to dedicate herself entirely to teaching.

Coosje teaches at the Sweelinck Academy, the Conservatorium van Amsterdam’s national study programme for exceptionally gifted children. She gives courses and masterclasses in the United States, Switzerland, and in Kloster Schöntal and Goch in Germany. Addtionally, she has been a teacher at the Internationale Musikakademie in Liechtenstein since 2011.

In addition to her extensive teaching practice, Coosje Wijzenbeek is the driving force behind the Fancy Fiddlers, a unique string ensemble for young, talented violinists and cellists.

In 2007 Coosje was awarded the Kersjes van de Groenekan Prize for her exceptional contribution to the education of young violin talents.
