The jury praises Reinier as an authentic innovator who brings together tradition and experimentation in his own unique way. “Reinier Baas is bringing jazz into the present. With humor, lightness, and depth, he innovates, builds bridges between scenes and generations, and dares to take risks time and again.” The jury also praised his ability to make complex music accessible to a wide audience and the way in which he consciously seeks connections with other genres and art forms. This has made him an inspiring and connecting figure in Dutch jazz.
