John Coltrane Group, taught by Yaniv Nachum

In this group the focus will be on the music of the John Coltrane Quartet (especially the years of his classical quartet, 1962-1965). Compositions such as Afro Blue, Impressions, Countdown, Giant-steps, and Meditations are explored, and a special focus will be given to Coltrane's monumental recording A Love Supreme.
During the course you will explore Coltrane's approach to modal jazz, 'Coltrane-Changes' and super imposed changes. You will play, review and analyze the music of John Coltrane and you will be required to use his compositional techniques in your own compositions.
