Yongcheon Shin
Yongcheon Shin (1982, South Korea) studied historical oboes with Alfredo Bernardini at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. After obtaining his bachelor's degree he continued his studies in the master's degree programme with a scholarship from the AHK Talent Grant and graduated with the top mark 'excellent'. With ensemble Radio Antiqua he won second prize and the audience prize at the International Van Wassenaer Competition 2016 (Utrecht Early Music Festival). His recording with Radio Antiqua of G. B. Platti's Sonate à tre was included in the recordings of the year 2019 by Musicweb International.
Yongcheon Shin has worked with various orchestras and ensembles, such as the Netherlands Bach Society, the Nieuwe Philharmonie Utrecht, Les Musiciens du Prince Monaco, Bachsolisten Seoul, Collegium Vocale Seoul, Die Konzertisten Hong Kong, Luthers Bach Ensemble and Collegium Musicum Den Haag. He collaborated with renowned musicians including Jos van Veldhoven, Sigiswald Kuijken, Cecilia Bartoli, Alfredo Bernardini, Hervé Niquet and Masaaki Suzuki.
He has given reed making classes at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague since 2015. In 2018 he was invited to teach at the Early Music Summer School; in 2020 he will be a member of the EMSS teaching staff again.
