Social Awareness

At the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, we not only stimulate students to play and compose at top level, we also invite them to discover the role they can play in society as musicians, composers, conductors and teachers.

In a changing world, we want to harness the connecting power of music in all areas of society. Through projects, concerts, interviews with artists who have a special perspective on today's music world, and partnerships with socially active organizations we seek to actively reach out to people from all walks of life.
For musicians who are already active in the field, we offer courses in making music with vulnerable people, such as the elderly and the disabled.
We also offer support to refugees who have had to interrupt their music studies and organize projects to introduce young people for whom a music study is not an obvious choice to the possibilities of the conservatoire.
