Marcel Wierckx – Live performing with AI

Sound and video artist Marcel Wierckx, teacher of Live Electronics at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, was selected to carry out a short-term research project during the 2024–2025 academic year. This research project explored how artificial intelligence can enrich live performance by deepening the creative exchange between artist and audience. For this project, Wierckx developed a new version of the Tinmendo app, which enables the audience to actively participate in performances by the groundbreaking band Tin Men and the Telephone. With additional funding from the Creative Industries Fund NL, the app was enhanced with new and improved features for audience interaction and advanced AI capabilities to process and respond to audience input in real time.
