Reading Circle
With the Reading Circle, the CvA Research Division wants to help colleagues who are doing research or supervising student research to manage the intimidating amount of academic music literature that appears annually. By compiling and reading their own reading list under supervision, and by discussing the works read, participants will get a handle on numerous issues: how to choose literature and how to read it? What do academic debates in our field look like? But also: how do these kinds of publications come about and what do they reflect? What are the major themes and schools of thought in current musicology? Apart from knowledge broadening, the Reading Circle invites participants to reflect on their own research and writing practices. In addition, they can in turn use this experience when coaching students who are facing similar questions in their MA research. A maximum of eight teachers can participate in the Reading Circle each year.
