Jazz progressions: voicing theoretical and historical perspectives
14 February 2025 - Amsterdam Blue Dock
On the occasion of Barbara Bleij’s defence at the University of Amsterdam of her dissertation, ‘An Annotated Theory of Tonal Jazz Harmony’, the Music Research Division organises an international symposium on Friday, 14 February 2025.
The symposium will highlight different layers of Barbara’s research: the development of jazz harmony as a musical practice, a pedagogical practice, and a research field. In addition to Barbara herself, members of her international doctoral committee, colleagues and students of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam will also contribute to the symposium.
