The Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek Vlaanderen (FWO) has granted composer Amit Gur an FWO Fellowship for his PhD research into musical texture, which he is carrying out at the University of Antwerp. The FWO is the Belgian counterpart of the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO). The next four years, Amit will continue his research into musical texture as a perceptual phenomenon.

Amit Gur (Tel Aviv, 1987) graduated from the master's degree programme in Composition at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2015. His principal subject teachers were Wim Henderickx and Richard Ayres. Following his graduation, he was invited to teach an elective course about his research on musical texture, based on his PhD research.
