It is with deep sadness that we learned of the passing of pianist Jeroen Bal. Since 1997, Jeroen had been a répétiteur at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where he devoted himself to coaching students in rehearsing and performing their repertoire, always deeply committed to their musical development. As a professional, he was highly regarded for his superb playing and flexibility, but also as a colleague—warm, committed, and inspiring—he has been invaluable to the school.

Jeroen Bal studied at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Jan Wijn, where he graduated with honors in 1988. He won many prizes and performed regularly with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, which he joined in 2019 as the first resident pianist in the orchestra's history.

We are deeply saddened by his untimely passing and remember Jeroen with the utmost appreciation and gratitude. We wish his wife, children, and all his loved ones much strength in coping with this immense loss.
