Impressive results at the Princess Christina Jazz Competition 2025

We are proud of the many CvA students who won prizes at the Princess Christina Jazz Competition 2025.

Saxophonist Mink Jaspers (Junior Jazz College) won first prize in category 1 (12-15 years). 

In category 2 (16-21 years), both the Joep Grotendorst Quartet and HOUSD (photo) won first prize. HOUSD also won the Audience Award and the Press Award. 
The Joep Grotendorst Quartet consists of bachelor's students Joep Grotendorst, saxophone; Evan van der Feen, piano; Veerle van der Wal, double bass, and Frits Steeghs, drums. 
HOUSD consists of bachelor's students Gudrun Blok, vocals; Sehee Kim, piano; Olof Nylén, drums, and Joseph Defromont, double bass.
Veerle van der Wal and Sehee Kim also won a Leading Female Artist Award. 

Second prizes in category 2 went to the Lucas Bakker Quartet, consisting of JJC and bachelor's students Lucas Bakker, saxophone; Kobe Bakker, drums; Samuel Frerichs, piano; and Nina Cekov, bass guitar; and to pianist Tijs Kok (JJC).
