Camiel Jansen appointed Composer Laureate

CvA teacher Camiel Jansen has been appointed Composer Laureate. He was awarded the title for his imagination, musical depth, social commitment, and youthful enthusiasm, according to the selection committee, which was unanimous in their choice. This combination of qualities makes him an ideal representative of composition in the Netherlands.

Over the next two years, Camiel Jansen will serve as ambassador for Dutch music life: from composers and musicians to teachers, students, and young creators. Under Jansen's own motto, “A sound for the gap,” he connects people with new compositions, educational projects, and collaborations, according to the jury.
