Trombonist and composer Arjan Linker has won the Buma Classical Award 2025. He was awarded the prize for the important contribution he has made to cultural life over the past two years with his compositions, improvisations and arrangements.
Arjan Linker obtained his bachelor's degrees in composition and classical trombone in 2022 and completed his master's degree in composition in 2024. During his studies, he became fascinated by the classical music of North India and specialised under two masters, Ustad Sabir Khan and Vidushi Tulika Ghosh. He incorporates Indian influences, such as ragas, into his compositions and was the first trombonist to give Indian classical recitals.
