On November 21, composer Adam Łukawski, CvA alumnus, obtained his PhD from Leiden University with a thesis entitled Performative Transactions: Worlding Compositional Ecosystems. His supervisor was Prof. Richard Barrett.
After graduating from the composition department in 2021, Adam completed the DocARTES programme, a doctoral programme facilitated by two universities and three conservatoires in the Netherlands and Flanders, including the CvA. He conducted practice-based research into how the roles of artists - and their compositional practices - are transforming under the influence of emerging technologies, with a special focus on artificial intelligence and blockchain. In the 2023-2024 academic year, Adam was a guest lecturer at the CvA for Arnold Marinissen's master's elective Technological Strategies in Performing and Composing.
