The nominees for this year's Edison Jazz Awards have been announced. They include many students, alumni and teachers of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (CvA). Curious to learn more about the nominees across the different categories and the amazing music they’ve produced? Have a look here!
Newcomer
In the Newcomer category, pianist and CvA alumna Chaerin Im is nominated. In addition, the Chris Muller Big Band received a nomination. This big band consists of eighteen talented jazz musicians, many of whom studied at the CvA.
National Vocal
In the National Vocal category, Blue Sands was nominated, consisting of singer and teacher Esther van Hees, as well as alumnus Reindert Kragt.
National
In the National category, saxophonist, composer, band leader and teacher at the CvA Kika Sprangers has been nominated. Saxophonist Ben van Gelder, who also teaches at the CvA, and guitarist Reinier Baas were also nominated in this category. Finally, saxophonist, composer and teacher Sam Newbould received a nomination.
Edison Jazz Audience Award
In the category Edison Jazz Audience Award were nominated: Federica Larusso and her band (consisting of alumni of the CvA), alumnus Lucas Santana, Kika Sprangers, jazz collective NAUSYQA (consisting of students and alumni of the CvA) and finally jazz band BRUUT!, in which teacher Folkert Oosterbeek and several alumni of the CvA participate.

About the Edisons
The Edison is the most prestigious and oldest music award in the Netherlands. On 6 October 2025, the Edisons Jazz and Classical 2025 will be handed over at the AFAS Theatre in Leusden.
