The Conservatorium van Amsterdam is delighted to announce the appointment of Margi Kirschenmann as Head of Strings in the Classical Department, effective from the new academic year. With her extensive experience in both performance and music education, she brings invaluable expertise to the strings department.
"I am looking forward to taking on the role of Head of Strings and collaborating with the renowned musicians and teachers in the department," says Kirschenmann. "It is also an honour to guide a new generation of string players through a crucial phase of their development."
Deputy Director Maartje Meijer adds: "With Margi, we are gaining an inspiring and highly skilled leader. She not only possesses profound knowledge of musical performance but also excels in translating this into an educational context."
Margi Kirschenmann obtained her Master’s degree in Classical Saxophone from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 1999. She has performed with various orchestras and ensembles and has worked as a producer and interim artistic coordinator at Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ. Since 2019, she has been Head of Education at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, where she is responsible for the education programme for all bachelor students, the master's programme ‘The Musician Educator,’ and the Music Teaching programme.
