Sopranista Maayan Licht, alumnus of Voice Early Music, has been awarded Oper!Award Best Newcomer at the Oper!Award presentation ceremony at La Monnaie in Brussels.
‘At the Bayreuth Baroque Festival, a young soprano stole the show, eclipsing even stars of the scene,’ said the jury. ‘He gave Achilles in Porpora’s Ifigenia in Aulide the most heartfelt intensity and beguiling acrobatics. A true whiz kid: after completing his studies in Amsterdam, he enjoyed instant success in Vienna, Brno, Parma, Oldenburg and Glyndebourne, among other places.’
Maayan Licht studied with Xenia Meijer at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, graduating from the master degree programme in Early Music Voice in 2021.
