Sanne Sanne, the band of alumna Sanne Huijbregts, won the Dutch Jazz Competition on December 21.
'With the special line-up and the individual sound of the beautiful compositions containing room for improvisations and complex rhythms, Sanne Sanne manages to touch deeply,' said Mijle Loeven, chairm of the professional jury.
Sanne Sanne wins a prize of €5,000; studio recordings worth €5,000; a tour of relevant festivals and a network for international concerts.
Sanne Huijbregts graduated from the master's programme in jazz voice at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2016. She also plays vibraphone and balaphone, among other instruments.
The biennial Dutch Jazz Competition aims to give talented Dutch or Netherlands-based musicians the opportunity to present themselves to a wider audience, the press and the music industry.
