Miss Starling (Marieke Naus, second-year student in the pop music master programme) has won the Amsterdam Pop Prize on 23 November at the Melkweg. The jury were impressed by Miss Starling's songs. 'Good hooks and rock-solid songs that are catchy in a way you don't see in the Netherlands at the moment. With stream-worthy pop tracks and a theatrical presentation, Miss Starling manages to complete the performance.'

The Amsterdam Pop Prize, a band competition for bands in all styles, is a springboard for Amsterdam pop talent. During the competition, bands get the chance to present themselves to audiences, media and the music industry. For many winners, it is the beginning of a flourishing career.
