The Conservatorium van Amsterdam is delighted to announce that Hester Groenleer has been appointed as principal subject teacher of recorder as of 1 January 2025. Hester has already been teaching at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam’s Sweelinck Academy for young talents.

‘We are very pleased that Hester will now bring her great expertise as a teacher and musician to the bachelor and master degree programmes,’ says Maartje Meijer, Associate Director and Head of Classical Music. 'With her, the Department of Recorder will gain a versatile and inspiring musician who is at home in both early and contemporary music. This makes Hester the ideal person to further shape the study programme.’

Hester Groenleer (1980) studied recorder with Paul Leenhouts at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, obtaining both her bachelor’s and master’s degree with the highest honours. She plays with The Royal Wind Music and recorder quintet Seldom Sene, and also performs regularly with keyboard player Matthias Havinga, performing frequently in The Netherlands and abroad at prestigious festifals and concert venues.
