On 26 June 26, composer Stijn Valentijn Grul won the Keep an Eye Filmscore Award 2024f or the graduation filmMijn lief kind. Composer Pepijn Peeterseceived a special mention for the music of the graduation filmTeken mij een thuisland. Both composers graduate from the master programme in Composing for Film with their works.
‘For the jury, the winning composer is the one who has written a remarkably varied score; ranging from pop songs that explicitly refer to an era, to an intelligent atmospheric underscore and an emotional string quartet,’ says the jury report about Stijn Valentijn Grul. ‘Through an intense collaboarion with the director, the music is fully integrated into the drama of the film and supports it without ever intruding on it. We were deeply touched by the film and the score and were left in deep silence.’
The jury consisted of composer Mojan Alaiyeh, sound designer Michel Schöpping, and composer Bob Zimmerman (chair).
The prizes were awarded during the Keep an Eye Filmacademie Festival in Eye Filmmuseum. The Keep an Eye Filmscore Award, made available by the Keep an Eye Foundation, consists of an amount of € 3.500,- (winner) and € 500,- (special mention), to be put towards equipment and further professional development.
