In Memoriam: Rudolf Jansen

We mourn the passing of pianist and song accompanist Rudolf Jansen. Rudolf Jansen passed away on 12th February 2024 at the age of 84.

Rudolf Jansen accompanied a significant number of internationally famous singers, including Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Elly Ameling, Robert Holl, and Christianne Stotijn. In 2017, he gave his final concert, on an evening dedicated to him at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

Throughout his career, Rudolf Jansen taught at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and as a teacher of masterclasses for song duos, he earned a great reputation worldwide. His dedication to the profession and his ability to inspire his students was profound.

In 1998, Rudolf was appointed Knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau, and in 2017, he was awarded the Knight's Order in the Order of the Dutch Lion.

He will be remembered for his unparalleled piano technique, his profound interpretations, and his boundless dedication to the art of song accompaniment.
