Hanna Shybayeva appointed principal teacher of piano at the CvA

The Conservatorium van Amsterdam is very pleased that Hanna Shybayeva will join the Keyboard Department as a teacher of piano as a principal subject. ‘Hanna is an enormously versatile pianist with a successful international career,’ says Okke Westdorp, Associate Director and Head of Classical Music. ‘We are delighted that she can pass on her experience, vision and enthusiasm to our piano students.’

Hanna Shybayeva performs as a recitalist and soloist with orchestras throughout Europe, Russia and the United States. Additionally she is active in the field of chamber music, for instance with the leading contemporary music ensemble New European Ensemble. She launched the chamber music project Symphonic Intimacy

in which she performs historical chamber music arrangements of symphonic works, together with the Ysaÿe String Trio. 2019 saw the start of a collaboration with Naxos Music Group to record all Beethoven’s piano concertos in the chamber music version of V. Lachner.
With violinist Maria Milstein she recorded the internationally acclaimed CD Sounds of War. This album was hailed by Dutch newspaper NRC as one of the best classical albums of 2015 and was awarded an Edison Klassiek.
