Identities Project wins Downbeat Student Music Award

The 'Identities Project' consisting of CvA-students and alumni has won a prestigious Downbeat Student Music Award. The project, featuring members Martín Díaz Freiría (alto saxophone), Lucas Martínez (tenor saxophone), Floris Kappeyne (piano), Omer Govreen (double bass) en Ilia Rayskin (drums), won the award in the category 'Small Jazz Combo'. Martín Díaz Freiría received a special mention for 'outstanding soloist'.

Downbeat is a renowned jazz magazine from the United States. The DownBeat Student Music Awards, founded in 1976, are considered among the most prestigious awards in jazz education. Hundreds of musicians, music educators and music industry professionals received their first international recognition as DownBeat Student Music Award winners. Awards are given in 15 categories in five different divisions.
