Eliot Lawson appointed principal subject teacher of violin at CvA

The Conservatorium van Amsterdam is very happy to appoint Eliot Lawson principal subject teacher of violin as of September 1st. Eliot Lawson has been assistant to principal subject teacher Ilya Grubert at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam for over a decade. ‘Over the past years, Eliot has proven himself a most dedicated and reliable teacher, who has achieved remarkable teaching results,’ says Okke Westdorp, Associate Director and Head of the Classical Department.

Eliot Lawson (Brussels, 1978) performs the world over as a soloist with orchestras throughout Europe and the United States. He was concert master with the Rotterdam Young Philharmonic and the Prima la Musica chamber orchestra. He has played at festivals such as the Flanders Festival, Ars Musica, the Festival de Wallonie, Festival de Bretagne, Tibor Varga Festival and the Festival Roussel. As a chamber musician he performs with the ensembles Hermes, One-Off, Enigma and Joseph Jongen, and as a regular duo with cellist David Cohen and with his sister, pianist Jill Lawson.

In addition to his teaching activities at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, Eliot is a teacher at the Scuola de Musica di Porortogruaro and the Kunsthumaniora in Belgium. He is regularly invited to give masterclasses in Belgium, Luxemburg, France, Portugal, Italy Turkey, Hong Kong and the United States.
